cock crow opens doors

welcoming the rising sun

a flurry of dust

Kim says of herself, “I may be retired but I’m busier than ever writing haiku and other poetic forms, as well as stories and a second novel which is tricky when I am constantly tempted by the Norfolk countryside and a baby grandson in another part of the country!” You can read more of her work at Writing North Norfolk.

I liked the way the cock crow opens the portal of dawn, transforming the world.

This haiku is part of our PORTAL theme!

  1. Cool. I got stumped by this portal prompt… then this is so beautifully obvious… meaning- everyday wonder; Well done.

Love the way the cock crows to open the portal of the day, too. And when we visited Switzerland, it was the ringing of the cow’s bells that welcomed the dawn.
    Switzerland’s cows ring
    The opening of new dawn
    Meandering near.
