green in the Frost, lurks

Thaw brings out verdant promise –

Twigs, cross their fingers

“As a perceptual scientist, (a visual psychophysicist to be precise), the process of understanding the incoming data we receive should come as second nature, yet I’m always amazed how we can perceive things differently with a slight twist in our viewpoint.  As always, I take impish delight in penning a wry view of such.”

Emergence

4 March, 2019

Welcome back to Pure Haiku!

Our first theme for 2019 is Emergence …

Thank you to the 17 writers who submitted total of 64 haiku for this theme! There was only one outright rejection – all the rest of the haiku writers made it through to the first and second rounds. There were two contenders for featured haiku writer but you’ll have to wait until the end of April to discover who was chosen this time!

Welcome to four new contributors; Susi Bocks, Buddhadosha, Fleur Beauport and Dorinda Duclos! And welcome back to our regular contributors.

Please don’t be dismayed if your haiku were rejected this time; choosing haiku that fit with each other is a difficult task! Please send in more of your work in the autumn.

There was a real variety in the subject matter for the theme  of Emergence. You’ll be able to dip into haiku about Spring, nature, night, dawn, words, thought, time and more over the next few weeks.

Enjoy the journey!
