I turn – behind me, the past

whispering farewell

A sudden parting,

unforeseen but not hidden —

This haiku struck a chord from the first reading – I love the mystery, the silence, the starkness of the words that imply, rather than tell.

I love the clever way Kerfe makes a portal out of moonlight and shape-shifting! A portal generally opens onto a new landscape and I really enjoyed the way the moon “uncolors” the landscape in this haiku.

Here is the final haiku from our featured haiku writer; Kerfe Roig. “I’m interested in the places between, the transitions, the stories we tell about how and where and why. I look for connections, mirrors, repetitions, gaps, contradictions, the interaction of opposites, the point where endings and beginnings meet.” Discover more at Kerfe Roig and methodtomadness.
